Sean and Gary Dale's brand new funny car made it's first passes down the 1320 today at Speedworld Dragstrip. The funny car was bought in the off season from Bucky Austin and still needs the finishing touches on it, but the Dales wanted to get a couple of test passes in before debuting their new ride at the 28th Annual Funny Car Fever at Sacramento Raceway Park later this month.
The Dale's Dodge Challenger bodied funny car is a tribute to Ed "The Ace" McCulloch and his stable of Revellution Funny Cars from the 70s that were highly successful and raced across the country.
The first shot at the track was a planned 60 ft. shut off pass. The second pass at the end of the day was an on and off the throttle 6.52 @ 228 mph.
On a side note, it has been close to two years since I have been to Speedworld Dragstrip. I was pleasantly surprised by the upgrades to the drag strip and it's general condition. I was told by one worker that plans are in the works to extend the concrete through the whole quartermile sometime in the near future. My hats off to Bernie Longjohn and his crew for the great job they have done with the facility since taking over.
